Volunteer

I'm excited that I've volunteered for a worthy cause, our upcoming election.

My neighbor, Gwendolyn, is a mover and shaker. She reminds me of my sister Becky, who always took a stand and advocated for those who needed a voice. She pushed for special needs education in Boone County before anyone ever used the term in relation to children with autism and motor skill issues.

Becky was my role model, in that she stepped up and took the initiative to help the marginalized. She left this life in 1991, and yeeouch how I miss her!

Ever since I moved, I have wanted to find a cause to help, and finally it landed on my lap. Gwen is the manager of a local election poll, and asked me to work with her on election day. I'll train and learn how to check in voters next week. I'm super stoked about it. I'll even get paid lol.

As October breezes on by, I'll enjoy the knowledge that November will lead to a refreshing change. I am learning about the candidates, and know the ballot, sorta. It'll be good to get out of my crib and meet more people.

I've now had the Pfizer booster, am getting the flu shot today or tomorrow. I'm officially ok to do something besides wait for the pandemic to pass. Yee to the haw!

Pray for me and

pray for peace,

Kimmy
