Calling All Artists: Legacy Trail Needs You!

Subject: Legacy Trail Updates
Legacy Trail's Steve Austin has advised that construction of the nine mile path leading from downtown to the Horse Park is continuing and "the dry weather is really helping us to get a great start….but I know it’s bad for the people who are actually trying to feed us. Hopefully, we’ll be able enjoy the right balance."

"Call for artists: The Legacy Trail Public Arts Consortium (LTPAC) invites Kentucky artists to join the Legacy Trail’s Artist Roster. LTPAC seeks to create a roster of artists from Kentucky who work in any media, and who are interested in creating public art along the Legacy Trail in Lexington. The Roster will be used to commission artists to create three groups of projects – flags (blazes), trail surface paintings (tapis) and custom-designed road crossings during the summer of 2010, encompassing Phase One of the Public Art Master Plan for the Legacy Trail. In later years, Roster Artists will be chosen for other projects (Phases Two & Three), including sculptural and environmental projects, as funding allows."

"SAVE THE DATE! We are tentatively looking at Sunday, September 12, 2010 as the official opening date of the Legacy Trail. This is Second Sunday, and the ride that day will be on the Trail. We’ll have food, fun for the kids, tours of the trail, music – a whole party all day! You’ve got time to get in shape now."
