Day 2021

The advances made by Labor unions have saved lives and enriched our workforce.

The first legal job I had was at Gerber & Gerber in Memphis, where I worked for a labor lawyer.

In the 1970s, Labor was a hot movement in big cities who needed a big pool of competent workers. In the South, it was a tough nugget to crack, but my attorney stuck with the task and represented big unions, still does! He called strikes and I watched all sorts of action from my receptionist desk.

Today, I'm watching the news of Cincinnati's many festivals, including Riverfest, which has been controversial to say the least. Apparently it was canceled last year and this year's celebration was altered. The Coast Guard closed traffic on the river during the Fest, for a 20 mile stretch ... until yesterday  when minds were changed.

Debris from Hurricane (Hussy) Ida had junked up the Ohio that badly. The action on the river has somehow settled down, so it is clearer and everyone can come watch the fun from the Serpentine Wall on the Kentucky riverbank.

Me? I'm fine and dandy. These days I sleep from dusk to midnight, but not last night. Someone lit loud ass firecrackers outside my $%&<=# window at 10 pm, tho. Grr.

Anyway, let us all liberally celebrate Labor Day, as well as all fruits of our labor!

Wishing you peace,

Kimmy
