Ida has left her path of destruction...and New Orleans.
My friend from my days at the THOROUGHBRED RECORD, Donna Rock has moved away from that area and I am grateful for that. I knew her from working at the Record during the 1980s, and we have been friends since. She recently moved from New Orleans be near to her family, and whew, we are all glad.
My friends Allie and Bob are fans of the area, named their kitty "Nola," in fact. They visit the French Quarter often, Allie having roots in N'awlins. My love goes out to them when I see the flood's destruction.
I went to New Orleans in 1977 with my friend Nancy Creel. We were supposed to see the Stones, but didn't. Instead I drank too many freebies at Pat O'Briens and got deathly sick.
The good news is we stayed at her uncle's in Mississippi on the way, and saw a rocket lift off! He worked with NASA :--)
BACK to whatever I was babbling about, Ida is NOT sweet as apple cidah, y'all. To paraphrase SOUTHERNMOST, by Silas House, there's a "pounding meanness" to the rain that destroys and rushes families from homes by such a persistent storm.
My prayer is for all of America to stand behind the recovery efforts in the areas damaged...and for
Peace!:☮
Kimmy
