It has occurred to me that since we are all staying inside and safe, the Preakness is an exciting race to consider in this odd year of the Rona. Looking at each horse in the following days will keep me occupied!
We have until October 3rd, a Saturday, of course! There is a patch of sage somewhere nearby I want to pinch a handful for Preakness cocktails!
The first horse I want to talk about is ART COLLECTOR; owned by Bruce Lunsford; and he is the son of BERNARDINI and his mare is DISTORTED HUMOR.
His jockey is Brian Hernandez Jr, and after ART COLLECTOR'sEllis Park Derby win, said, "I just ... stay out of his way and let him travel!"
You may remember his daddy BERNARDINI also won the Grade I Preakness and was the Champion of 2006.
ART COLLECTOR is trained by Thomas Drury. In this year of the Rona, perhaps a lovely name like ART COLLECTOR will bring this bay horse luck.
What do I like best about this horse? The fact that his daddy won the Preakness in 2006, the Travers Stakes, and other prestigious races. ART COLLECTOR has run the long races and he seems very easy at it. We shall see, shan't we?
Meanwhile, I'm going to research making cocktails with sage, perhaps some grated orange and muddled with whiskey!
Cheers,
Kimmy
