Is It Christmas Yet?

Remember when Christmas was nothing but a
time of waiting for Santa Claus to
leave your heap of gifts under the tree?

Is it just me, or is anybody else ready for Christmas? I am ready to go shopping, wrap gifts, put up lights, sing carols, get misty-eyed over bad movies, freeze my butt off trying to walk down the street just to listen to some music, and ride the bus out to Eastland to find myself a Christmas outfit.

I am so grateful for this show,
it is on when there is nothing
else on at night! Lol #Mom

Just a year ago, I was looking forward to Melody's and Shelby's upcoming weddings in August and October, and I was wondering if it would be sweltering hot at both venues. It turned out I had nothing to worry about, Melody's wedding was on THE weekend the big heat wave of 2019 finally broke, the temp eased; and Shelby's wedding in Gatlinburg enjoyed gorgeous weather, too. October was the perfect time to have her wedding. I am eternally grateful that both of my granddaughters got married last year, and not this year, because nobody would have been able to attend, nor would they have been able to be a participant of the wedding at all. This year is a year no one will ever forget, and that is not a good thing necessarily.

However, usually in the Fall, we would be practicing our Christmas music, which my choir begins to rehearse in August. Last year, I missed our choir Retreat, because of Melody's wedding, and I quite frankly am not sure we will ever have another choir Retreat like we used to, not until this virus is solved.

I say solved because our entire existence has been turned inside out, and solving this equation will be much like when you get home and take your boots off after a long day at the Derby. It is a wonderful thing to finally relax and be able to take a moment to breathe and allow your pores to absorb the oxygen, but it all has to be done slowly, with a lot of thought of what is about to happen...in appreciation.
 tonight's was a calm Sunset,
not too opinionated.

Those were the days, weren't they, back when we could plan our Holidays, go to Derby ... wear boots somewhere? Instead, I am watching Mom, the Christmas show from this year, and they are caroling, and it is cracking me up. I started  this blog before it came on, so it is Kismet is it not?

So back to what I was talking about originally, I really wish I could skip the next six months and that we would be preparing for fudge season, the season of pumpkin spice cookies, sausage balls and all those lovely treats that people make around the Christmas time. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

My church has a Peace Fair every year in early December, and I always buy any gift I am going to give at Peace Fair, because it benefits someone needy in a foreign country if I do so. Otherwise, I do purchase gifts that are locally made, to support the small business owners in my midst.

All of this talk about the holidays is cheering me up an iota, I hope perhaps it is doing the same for you. In fact, I think I need a candy cane about right now.

Happy holidays,
Kimmy
