Down by the Schoolyard Dreams

SCHOOLYARD DREAMS is only 2 for 6 in a brief career that includes a much talked about loss. He finished second in the Tampa Bay Derby, yet still crossed the finish line ahead of a now-famous superstar.  However, he's had a good long rest -- he last ran on April 3, when he came in 4th in the Wood Memorial, at which time it has been said he had bit of a cold.

Now that he's recovered, he may be back in shape to once again beat Kentucky Derby winner SUPER SAVER, against whom he prevailed in the Tampa Bay Derby in mid-March, coming in second by just barely a sniffly lil nose to ODYSSEUS, who surged ahead to edge him out (SUPER SAVER came in third).

Coming out of the 2nd post position, SCHOOLYARD DREAMS may be able to bring home the money for owners Eric Fein & Anthony Mitola, and for trainer Derek Ryan, who has enthusiastically expressed his confidence in the colt's ability to emerge as victor tomorrow in the 135th running of the Grade I Preakness Stakes.

What I like about this horse:  There has been a change up in riders and perhaps with jockey Eibar Coa aboard, SCHOOLYARD DREAMS will show how much he has matured and allow all the longshot lovers to cash a  big ticket.  His odds right now, the night before the Grade I Preakness, are 15 to 1.  Oh yeah, and he's a son of super-sire STEPHEN GOT EVEN .
