UK Women Are Kicking Ass (Coach Mitchell's Taking Names)

I don't know about you, but I la-la-la-LOVE UK Women's Basketball Coach Matthew Mitchell.

He's exuberant, he's energetic, he's funny, and he knows how to coach a basketball team.  In fact, he's so excitable, I can't watch him unless I've had a percolator full of coffee and a Lorna Doone or two.

As March Madness approaches and the student lottery for the men's team has taken place for the remaining games, I hope you will consider taking your loved ones to see a ladies' basketball game at Memorial Coliseum.  Trust me, if you have a daughter, you should definitely put this on your list of things to do.  Of all the memories my son has of his childhood, the ones he remembers most fondly are of all the games we attended - it doesn't seem to matter that we sat in the nosebleed seats at Rupp or the 'end zone' seats at Commonwealth.

Yeppers, I may have not been a perfect Mom, but I did deliver the goods whenever it came to UK ballgames and concerts.   I worked two jobs while I was going to school to make it all happen, and there were many lean times and struggles, but we shall always have memories to share of booing Rob Locke, cursing at Paul Galvan, and arguing with Arkansas fans ...*sigh* ... good times, GOOD TIMES!  heh

I say all that to say this:  The "other" UK basketball team has a lot going on. Consider Coach Mitchell's achievements of late and cheer him and his Cats on as they wind up a great season:

* UK won both of it's SEC games last week defeating Ole Miss in Lexington and getting a win at Arkansas - http://www.ukhoopsfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=3169.0 Their record is now 20-3.

* UK's next big test is Thursday in Lexington as Georgia comes to town. UK will be looking to even the series as Georgia won by one point in overtime earlier this year - http://www.ukhoopsfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=3171.0

* Victoria Dunlap was awarded SEC Player of the Week for the second time in a row, third time this season - http://www.ukhoopsfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=3173.0

* UK is now up to #17 in the AP poll just out today - http://www.ukhoopsfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=3172.0

As we get into the second half of SEC play, UK is currently in 2nd and needs to close strong. Be sure to come out to all the games and show your support!
