ART IN MOTION Benefit Thursday at Natasha's

Tomorrow night at a benefit for Art in Motion, the grassroots organization that builds artistically appealing bustops around town, Dr. Garry Bibbs will speak about creating Lyrical Movement- the 3rd and Elm Street Bus stop project - @ 7:30pm.

You can check out Art In Motion's fundraising blast, Get in Motion for Art in Motion, on Thursday, February 4th at Natasha's Bistro from 5:30-10:30.

There are two bands performing:  The Positive Movement from 5:30-7:00 for happy hour and Water with vocalist Vera Soules from 7:30-10:30.   Please reserve tickets by calling Natasha's at 259-2754.

You can show up for happy hour or dinner or both! Radio personality Anne Deck will emcee the event and there will be a live auction of a donated work by noted visual artist Karen Spears.  (See Karen's artwork at Ann Tower Gallery and karenspears.com.)   Hope to see you there!

Please consider this event to help raise needed funds for future shelters and grant-writing.

Ø The cost of tickets for the event will be $10 at the door.

Ø What you'll hear:  Water's goal is to make music they love while incorporating cultural education into their original songs with a wide range of styles including Latin, Jazz, African, Blues, Rhythm and Blues - and of course, Gospel!

The Positive Movement is made up of professional musicians and vocalists united in a common goal to make diverse music that incorporates Jazz, R and B, Motown, Neo-Soul, The Blues, Country, Pop and a bit of Funk!

BEST ARTS NON-PROFIT:
Lexington attorney Yvette Hurt, along with UK Professor Scott Diamond and a number of other socially conscious folks have put together a vast organization of architects, builders, UK workers, and artists to build artistically appealing bus shelters, such as BottleStop (made from Ale-8 bottles) and ArtStop (a metal sculpture by Garry Bibbs).  If you search my blog and/or aceweekly's archives, you can find out more about this wonderful project.  In fact, my first cover story for Ace was about Art in Motion, way back in July of 2007 :)  I'm so glad people are sitting up and taking notice of Art in Motion!
