Fantastic filly RACHEL ALEXANDRA is going to bypass the Grade I Travers Stakes to run against older horses in the Grade I Woodward Stakes. However, her trainer, Steve Asmussen announced today that RA’s stablemate Jim Dandy and Dwyer Stakes (both Grade II) winner KENSEI would run on Saturday in the Travers.

Obviously impressed after her workout at Saratoga, exercise rider Dominic Terry enthusiastically endorsed the 3-year-old daughter of MEDAGLIA D’ORO, who was clocked at some pretty incredible times by the NYRA timekeepers.
Owner Jess Jackson stated he wants her to be tested by the older males in the Woodward and believes that should she win, this will be a true testament to her greatness as a Thoroughbred. Oh yeah, if she wins, RACHEL ALEXANDRA will be the first filly to win the mile and one-eighth Woodward. With the purse money now raised to $750,000 this will be a fine feather in the filly’s hat!
RACHEL ALEXANDRA, you will remember, was purchased by Jackson, et al. following her over 20-length victory in the Grade I Kentucky Oaks, and has now earned more than $2.2 million. She also recently won the Grade I Mother Goose by her now-expected-but- equally-impressive 19 1/4 lengths in record time against fillies. She also totally blew away all the colts in both the Grade I Preakness and Haskell Invitational.
The horses that most likely will comprise the field for the Travers Stakes are Derby winner MINE THAT BIRD, Belmont winner SUMMER BIRD, QUALITY ROAD, WARRIOR’S REWARD, HOLD ME BACK, OUR EDGE and CHARITABLE MAN.
Breeders' Cup is just around the corner, folks, stay tuned!
pray for peace,
Kimmy
