Holler Poets is Back at Al's this Wednesday!

by Kim Thomas

Host Eric Sutherland invites everyone to the biggest and fastest growing literary event in the area, as Holler Poets Series returns this Wednesday, July 22nd, featuring Maurice Manning and Mitchell Douglas,

There will be an open mic session beginning at 8:00, where perhaps you, too, can become a crowd favorite if you bring your poetry to Al's and share it with the rowdy- but-receptive Holler audience. Open mic at Holler is where I first experienced the writing of Sunny Montgomery, our favorite Bangin' Poet for ELand F Gallery. Montgomery was the toast of the town this past Wednesday as she visited 8 nursing homes in 8 hours, spreading light and laughter wherever she went, I am certain. Donna Ison, Devine Carama, and many others contribute to the growing pool of talent that Holler attracts every month.

(The very cool posters created for Holler are by John Lackey. Above is his latest for Holler Poets Series 15.)

After the open mic session, Holler Poets Series 15 will present featured writers Maurice Manning and Mitchell Douglas. Music by NEMO to follow.

Open mic starts at 8pm, it's all happening Wednesday at Al's Bar (Sixth and Limestone) and for golly gosh gumdrops' sakes - it's FREE! Giddy. Yup!

see you there :)
