Sing. Sing a song.

Music has power, and it is music upon which I rely when my emotions cannot properly be addressed.

Y'all know my choir experience guided me for the last few decades, and I'm eternally grateful for everything I learned from Michael R and Mozart while singing in the Chancel Choir at Central Christian Church in Lexington.  During the last 25 years, I sat beside two ladies who passed away recently. Pam Hammond's passing was last year, and Anne McGregor died just a few days ago.

Anne was a delight to sit beside and discuss everything under the Sun. We once had a serious discussion about Bill Gaither. It was actually hilarious, too. She was not a fan, let's just say...lol.

When I was commissioned to write celebratory essays about each choir member, Anne wrote her own about Malcolm and her gorgeous marriage and life. She was wonderful to work with, and I'll forever be grateful she was my good friend.

Over the 25+ years I was in choir, we sang our goodbye to many a close friend in grief, and cried tears of joy when babies were born or when we sang at weddings. Songs bring us back to the quiet center where our hearts are safe.

Today as the oppressive heat bears down on you, sing a song in memory of someone you love. 🎶

Pray for peace.

Kimmy
