Bee In My Bonnet

I've loved watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee today.

When I was in the 8th grade, I was in a spell-off with my best friend, Lisa Idol. We went back and forth for 30 minutes until she missed "hippopotamus" and I spelled it, then "gingham" to win. My 8 years of studying spelling books finally paid off. I was ecstatic.

Then I went to Cincinnati to participate in the BIG spelling contest, where I met Joby Allen, who would go on to Washington DC. Joby also went to my high school was our Valedictorian and we were good friends.

Neither Lisa or Joby made it to this century, but heaven has two of the smartest chicks I ever knew. I'm ever grateful for the competition and the friendship!

Pray for peace,

Kimmy
