Why, Wednesday?

A week ago, I was waiting in eager anticipation of attending church on Maundy Thursday. It's funny how my very Catholic (and good for him) neighbor never heard of Maundy Thursday. I have held the day in deep reverence for 30 years years or so, since I joined the precious Chancel Choir of Central Christian Church. When I joined the choir in 1997, my father had just left this life, in April of that year. I went to the church alone, and immediately felt welcome by the folks at the door and with whom I sat. more than anything that day, I was incredibly impressed with the choir. Their music matched the Scripture being read for the day and/or the sermon, and the musical arrangements were gorgeous. I joined the choir, and at my very first rehearsal, I was handed Mozart's Vespers, sat beside the lovely Alto Kate Covington and her friend Margaret Rintamaa. As it turned out, Margaret was my choir director's wife! That year, I sent beside Margaret, but I remember telling her I hoped she and Michael planned on having a baby someday. She told me she was pregnant and due in February! I remember I was so happy for her and MR, and sure enough, their wonderful daughter was born that February, Katherine was her name ... followed by Elisabeth a few years later. They are both smart girls. have both nearly graduated from UK by now! I love that choir, because I learned how to sing better than I ever thought I could ever sing, and listen for musicality in theory, and not simply words. MR taught me what certain cues in music meant and how to help my voice interpret emotion. He is too humble to be a big shot about anything but I am proud to have studied under MR. He has shown me how to be a better Christian. So, on this Wednesday when the Sun shone brightly out my window, and the temperature when all the way up to 76゚, I praise the Lord for guiding me to Central Christian church in 1997. I praise the Lord for guiding me to contact MichaelR and join the Chancel choir! I praise the Lord for having the opportunity to serve the church in a number of ways, in Stephen Ministry, playing piano, and also of course being an alto in the lovely Chancel choir, which has led me to sing a new song, like the hart pants for water, the Lord is my refuge and strength! With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high...
