Breonna Taylor's Mama Cries

I just watched a live PBS broadcast; and it was Breonna Taylor's family remembering her. Leading the crowd was their attorney Ben Crump who articulated very well the pain that Breonna's mother felt yesterday when Daniel Cameron called her to Frankfort for the announcement, announced that they were indicting one of the police officers and it wasn't even for anything he did to Breonna Taylor!

The grand jury examined the evidence and

Kentucky's attorney general, Cameron decided only to come up with three puny charges against Hankison, one of the police officers who, "without regard for human life shot" his bullets all over Breonna Taylor's apartment building. AG Cameron had nothing to say about the policemen that broke into her apartment and shot her in her night clothes, and she had no weapons and no drugs on her, the warrant wasn't even for anyone in her apartment. The cops botched the bust, and they won't admit it.

Six months after they shot that poor woman, our attorney general shows his true colors.

The pain and the anger of that family was crucially difficult to watch. Attorney Crump pointed out that yesterday Daniel Cameron summoned Breonna's mother to Frankfort, from Louisville, for the announcement.

The announcement was shitty. It was nothing to listen to at all. It was hand slap for a paddling offense. The three picayune charges are a cover-up for the cops and it is clear they are hiding something. I thought I heard AG Cameron say that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was going to come in and do their own investigation, and I think that is where we will finally hear the truth. They need to release the transcripts of the grand jury hearing so the facts can be known!

Tonight, I hope I can get some sleep, and I hope my black and brown friends can also find a way to let peace settle into their hearts. I know it is tough for them, though. They are tired, they are exhausted, and I cannot blame them. The fact that this whole experience has manifested itself in Louisville Kentucky is an incredible thing to happen. Muhammad Ali is warching. Somewhere in Heaven, wherever that is.

Peace to you,

Kimmy
