The blonde girl at the end of the drill team was Rose. Or Patty!
I found out some terrible news today. My friend from high school, Rose Junk Ramsey, has passed away.
When I was in junior high school I first saw Rose - she was a cheerleader for the opposing team at a basketball game, and so pretty, I was so jealous of her! We ended up being in Algebra II class together, and drill team, but Rose always got the joke and she was funny as hell.
It turned out that she married a fellow who was a good friend of my first husband. So Rose and I bowled on a couples' league together. I was taught how to bowl by Alan, my husband. However, Rose had a very elegant way of delivering the ball to the floor, and I still use her form when I bowl today, which is once every decade LOL.
At any rate, she was the best of friends with the late Patty Fryar, and they would dye their hair together, wear the same outfit to school, and were The Bobbsey Twins most days of the year.
It was fun to march on the drill team with them, because at first, they did not know how to march, and I did. I showed them a couple of things we did in band, which made the band look really sharp, and we used them on the drill team and
I found out recently they still used some of the routines years and years after we left. I recall we performed to Cecelia, by Paul Simon, and the lyrics were too racy so we cut out a verse. Heh
I wish I had a recent pic handy, but back to my friend Rose, I will always miss seeing her at the class reunions especially. We always laughed about our first marriages, bowling, and drill team LOL. She was always honest with me, honest as can be. Those are the best kind of friends, though, aren't they?
Peace and love to all, blessed are those who fall asleep in Hope of the Resurrection,
Kimmy
