I waited for the elevator to use alone yesterday, and once I finally got on it a lady put her hand in the door at the last second and got on with me. Now, this elevator is not able to handle two people at a time and keep social distancing proper. She got really mad at me because I got off the elevator, but I am 65 years old and I do not want to go just yet.
This pandemic has brought out the best in people, and the worst in people. It is The Tale of Two Cities we are living in. I need to make sure that my temper is tamped down and kept quiet. I know people are stressed out right now, and may also do not realize how deadly this disease can be. The lady that got on the elevator with me is a sweet lady, but she has been one of the folks who have been crowding up and not obeying any of the rules and regulations of the governor or the CDC.
My holiday cactus blooming! |
This pandemic has made me wrestle with what Jesus would do, what do I do as a disciple? I try to see the good in everyone and encourage everyone. However, I am just as pessimistic as the next person. I wear my mask, I stay away from everybody, I go to get my mail and wash my hands five times when I get back, and I try my best to just endure this time when we have to stay alone to stay healthy.
My mother had a Christmas Rose, and I am pretty sure that it was actually a Christmas cactus. We brought it from Florence to Memphis and then from Memphis back up to Lexington when we moved back to Kentucky in 1979. My father would mow it down by mistake and it will come back four times stronger and healthier. It was a running not so funny joke between Mom and Dad At any rate, I love to inherit a Christmas cactus and make it Bloom for as long as I can. My last Christmas cactus came from my friend, Mary, and Mary died of lung cancer about 5 years ago. She was a funny intelligent and hilarious woman who at the age of 50 moved out west and all the way to the Oregon coast! I was very proud of her, when she finally came back to Kentucky, I gave her part of the Christmas cactus she'd given to me, and it actually bloomed for her. This Cactus I have right now was my friend Vicky's. She died last year, it will be two years in October. It has bloomed so prettily for me. I hope I can keep it blooming forever!
Speaking of forever, Jesus Christ is my risen Lord and savior forever and ever, Amen!
