SOLDAT, the big bay colt trained by Kiaran McLaughlin may be a longshot come Derby day, but he's proven his worth on less than perfect track conditions. Among his starts are 3 on off tracks, and this son of WAR FRONT won once and come in second twice in the mud, and with Alan Garcia aboard, he may just have what it takes to pull off a big win this Saturday at Churchill. He's earned $584,300 in his lifetime, was sold at Keeneland for a mere $180,000.
Owned by Harvey Clarke and Craig Robertson III, SOLDAT may be overlooked by the experts. If he has a favorable post position, he may be a good exacta horse.
What I like about this horse: He's run and won in the mud. Since Kentucky has been soaked to the gills this past month, it's going to take all any good Thoroughbred has to give to win...in the mud. (Mud = anything but fast)
see you at the Downs,
Kimmy
