Art Exhibit "Icons In Transformation" at Christ Church Cathedral

Art at the Cathedral presents 

“Icons in Transformation”


Friday, February 18th, 2011, Art at the Cathedral plays host to a unique exhibit by Russian artist, Ludmila Pawlowska, Icons in Transformation. The exhibit premieres that night from 5 to 8 p.m. during Gallery Hop at Christ Church Cathedral, 166 Market St. The exhibit will include Pawlowska’s contemporary art as well as a selection of icons from Vassilevsky Monastery in Russiaand will last through the following Gallery Hop, Friday, April 15th until Easter Sunday April 24th.

Pawlowska hails from Sweden and brings her unique approach to the strict traditions of icon creation, which influences her contemporary work. She expertly combines the best parts of traditionalism and contemporary art to form a style all her own.

Pawlowska, along with various professors from local universities, artists, and priests, will participate in various programs for the duration of exhibit. There will be a panel discussion and walk-through with the artist Saturday morning, February 19th at 10am-12pm.
