The UK Opera Theatre and the Dicapo Opera Company (New York) are teaming up to present the world premiere of "God Bless Us Everyone" by Thomas Pasatieri (The Hotel Casablanca). Students from the University of Kentucky will team up with company members at Dicapo Opera to present an opera based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Twenty years after the events of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge has passed away and Tiny Tim moves to the New World and becomes a British mercenary in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
If A Christmas Carol was ultimately a story of redemption, Tim, in God Bless Us Everyone, is cured through the late-blooming generosity of Scrooge, learns the lessons of forgiveness. Be prerpared for some suprises.
Michael Capasso of Dicapo Opera directs.
