In speaking with Eric Seale, Actors Guild of Lexington's acting artistic director, it's easy to see why he's so enthused about the upcoming production of Tommy: The Concert, which opens at Busters on Thursday, June 3 at 8:00. There are VIP packages available for the three concert dates, and Seale will be staging the concerts with music by the Johnson Brothers melded with performances by musical actors who are familiar to local theatre goers. Seale is breathing new life into AGL with his innovative approaches to staging familiar works in unfamiliar venues. The good news today is that one of Lexington's favorite leading men, Tom Phillips, will be appearing. Phillips confirmed by stating, "Yes! It's true! Just a couple small songs, but that's what I like. The songs are 1921 and Eyesight to the Blind. More intriguing details include the fact that husband and wife team of Tim X. Davis and Joy Davis will be part of the show as well. [Tim X., of course, is BCTC's Coordinator of Theatre & Film and he's a very busy fellow right now, co-directing (with the fabulous Jared Sloan) and co-starring in BCTC's production of A Few Good Men (Sloan is also acting in the show)] However, today, the stars all seemed to align for Tommy: The Concert, as Seale let me know he'd procured a brilliant pinball machine and Phillips has agreed to appear in the concert which he promises will replicate the iconic album. This "singers' concert," produced in collaboration with the Johnson Brothers Band, Lexington's one and only "rock n' roll repertory orchestra," promises to be a one-of-a-kind theatrical extravaganza. See The Who's iconic double album brought to the stage by a talented cast of Lexington stage veterans at Buster's Billiards and Backroom June 3 & 4 (18+), & 6th (all ages). "Come on the amazing journey, and learn all you should know!" $20 for Adults $18 for Seniors (65+) $15 for Students (with valid student ID) Featuring: Adam Fister, Tim X. Davis, Joy Davis, Luke Baldridge, Leif Rigney, Kathy Hobbs, & The Johnson Brothers Band Sponsored in part by: Buster's Billiards & Backroom, WUKY, Post Time Video, and Signs Now Do you want to be a pinball wizard?
