Eskendereya Eyes Roses

A hearty chestnut colt won the Grade II Fountain of Youth Stakes this past weekend, and even though his name seems hard to say, everyone will know about him before long as he gallops through the Derby prep races.

ESKENDEREYA, by Giant's Causeway, out of Aldebaran Light, whose papa was Seattle Slew, won by more than 8 lengths on Saturday to increase his earnings to $275,700 (he was bought for $250,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September Yearling Sale) and with Todd Pletcher as his trainer, John Valesquez in the saddle, ESKENDEREYA is sure to be an overachiever for Zayat Stables.
