Most Sundays, I can be found sitting next to my friend Betty, singing alto and feeling the inexplicable joy that comes with singing or participating in a musical group. You lose the mire of self when your voice blends with others, and therefore, it's an act of faith and hope in your brothers and sisters.
Today the worship message was all about the three kings. They were most likely not kings...and there were most likely not only three. The three gifts that are named: gold, frankincense and myrrh, are probably why every nativity creche involves three kings or magi. Magi. I think there are magi all around us, people who are just wise and seem to know our hearts...it's a good message to remember. We don't have to feel as if we are worthy to give our gifts to the Lord, we are not worthy, but God loves us anyway.
I love this prayer we prayed today and wanted to share it with you:
Grant, Holy One
that thinking, we may think your thoughts;
that speaking, we may speak your word;
that singing, we may sing your praise;
that hearing, we may hear your truth;
and that willing, we may make your will our own,
so that going out at the end of our worship,
we may walk in your love and your peace,
and departing from one another, not depart from you
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
peace,
Kimmy
