Let the Derby blogs begin here in Kimmyville!
In only his second race, LENTENOR, full brother to 2006 Derby winner Barbaro (by Dynaformer, out of La Ville Rouge, by Carson City) was an impressive winner today at Gulfstream Park. The big bay colt, trained by Micahel Matz won by more than three lengths on the turf for owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson.
No doubt the eyes of the racing world will be upon LENTENOR as he progresses in his racing career and races to the first Saturday in May.

Surely to be a sentimental crowd favorite, LENTENOR will have a lot of work to do in order to live up to his ill-fated big brother's fame and stay big, boisterous and healthy whilst doing it. Today, he raised a few eyebrows even higher...good for him and his rider, John Valasquez!
A few other Derby names to consider are ON VACATION and DIXIE SUMMER, both who have raced against LENTENOR. More to come about them and other 3-year-olds as I begin to blog my Derby madness to you.
I have fond memories of last year's blogs as I climbed through the starting gates and finish lines to bring some insight into the lives of these Thoroughbred athletes. This year's crop seems just as promising, although I am not so sure there will ever be another RACHEL ALEXANDRA. We shall see, my Lambchops!
