Holler at the Tuska House - December 12

"One Life Is Not Enough"

Eric Sutherland, creator of Holler Poets Series, is busy planning a tribute to John Tuska at the Tuska House on December 12, featuring Katerina Stoykova-Klemer, Theo Edmonds, Donna Ison, Rebecca Howell, as well as Sutherland himself.  Music by Warren Byrom.

Sutherland describes Tuska, as "an amazing artist who taught at the University of Kentucky whose work typically dealt with the human body/form. His figures are on the front of the Fine Arts Building, and his house, where he lived and created and subsequently died, is now a museum with 60 of his works permanently on display.

He points out that Tuska's son, "Seth, has taken the project on to try and preserve his legacy and to give Lexington a world class type of place to visit and be inspired. Seth recently moved from the house and hopes to set it up as a place where artists from all over can come stay and create in a residency program. He also plans on having the basement studio become functional again. You have probably seen his place. It's on the corner of Central and Old Park, a beautiful old place with a rounded porch to the side and the Tuska trademarked figures on the Central side of the house."

Sutherland says he decided to get involved "to do something outside of Al's and to promote this treasure!"
