The Bats: Your Mom, With An Electric Guitar - on WoodSongs Monday!

by Kim Thomas

Missy Johnston, recently seen as the down to earth and oftentimes hilarious Chatty in Actors Guild of Lexington's production of Long Time Travelling (by Silas House) is bringing her band to WoodSongs, Monday at the Kentucky Theatre (be in your seat by 6:45)! Michael Johnathon always puts together quite the show for area folks to enjoy, and for the world to love as well (just log on to woodsongs.com for the webcast live every Monday at 7:00 p.m. our time).

So, what's all this about Missy's band, called The Bats? Hmm? Well, The Bats describe themselves as "your mom, with an electric guitar." It's Rock & Roll meets Cabaret & Comedy made by the five feisty women and three very brave men of The Bats. Embracing many musical styles, the band play songs that range from lost love, weight gained, growing older, retail therapy, plastic surgery and anything else life throws their way... and they do it with skillful musicianship. Their new CD is titled Some Settling May Occur. http://www.thebats.net/

WoodSongs is also glad to welcome back Kacey Jones as she brings her "body of work" to the WoodSongs stage with a brand new CD titled Donald Trump's Hair. It's the hilarious follow-up to her previous comedy album, "Nipples to the Wind" and contains fifteen new tracks, including the debut single, "I Wanna Be Up Front Like Dolly." Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, this madcap redhead now based in Nashville sees the world at large with laser perception and a funny tilt. That's why audiences have been laughing with this singer, songwriter, musician, producer, publisher for years. www.kaceyjones.com
