“When you think of heroes, you think of such qualities as courage, strength, bravery and nobility,” says CKRH Executive Director Pat Kline. “You could list a number of people who share these qualities, and they also are seen in the horses at CKRH. Our horses most definitely are heroes.”
Located at the Kentucky Horse Park, Central Kentucky Riding for Hope is dedicated to enriching the community by improving the quality of life and the health of children and adults with special physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs through therapeutic activities using the horse. Proceeds from NIGHT OF THE STARS help to fund the existing program and achieve our goal of completing construction of an indoor arena so our riders will be able to ride year-round and we will be able to expand our services.
The live auction, considered to be the highlight of NIGHT OF THE STARS, gives attendees a glimpse into the hearts of CKRH students and their horses complete with elaborate costumes depicting some of the best-loved fictional and real-life heroes of all time. The winning bidder for each horse and rider will gain a year’s sponsorship of the horse, along with a commemorative photo and plaque.
Last year, some 470 people attended NIGHT OF THE STARS, which raised approximately $200,000 for CKRH. Selling for the top price of $7,500 to Paramount Sales was “Maverick the Gambler,” the team of student Marian aboard Blue, a Tennessee Walking Horse who was a champion in the show ring and is now a valued member of the CKRH stable of horses.
NIGHT OF THE STARS is a popular event in our community and is sold out each year. The silent auction, along with cocktails, kicks off the evening at 6 p.m. and will be followed by dinner and the live auction. Tickets are $100. Sponsorships for the event range from $1,500 to $50,000. Individual seats may be purchased for $100.
For sponsorship and ticket information, contact Pat Kline with CKRH at (859) 231-7066 or via e-mail at Pat@ckrh.org. To learn more about Central Kentucky Riding for Hope, visit us at www.ckrh.org.
