Adventure Day at Shaker VillageJune 6, 2009

Add a little adventure to your day. Join our talented staff and partners for a FREE day packed full of guided hikes, fishing, waterfalls, vista views and plenty of fresh air. Adventure Day at Shaker Village welcomes the community to explore our 3,000-acre backyard.

Adventure Day has something for everyone. Get the kids outdoors to explore the forest and learn how to track animals found in their own backyard. Bring your hand-held GPS and search for hidden treasures. Spend the morning identifying migrating birds, and the afternoon discovering 3 million years of geological history. Saddle your horse and spend a full day riding the trails. Come to the owl prowl for an up-close encounter with our secretive night-time predators.

Take time to discover everyday adventures at Shaker Village. For an additional fee, take a ride on the Dixie Belle riverboat or amble down the village road in a horse-drawn wagon. Purchase a tour ticket and participate in Day of Releasement activities celebrating the Shakers’ annual break from their daily chores. Don’t miss sack races, games and special interactive music and dancing.

The lunch stand will be serving to-go sack lunches and the Craft Store will be featuring special discounts. Plan to spend the day or the entire weekend. Call 800.734.5611 to reserve your room at the Inn at Shaker Village, make dining reservations or for more information.

A special thanks to community partners supporting the event - Fort Harrod Back Country Horsemen, Kentucky Horse Council, City of Harrodsburg, Wilderness Trail Ducks Unlimited, WalMart and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
