Flying Private had a poor showing on muddy May 2 in the Kentucky Derby. He is a son of FUSAICHI PEGASUS (who won the 2000 Kentucky Derby) and is out of a mare sired by 1990 Derby winner UNBRIDLED. Flying Private has raced 11 races and only won once, back in August of 2008.
He may be down, but don’t count him out yet. He is trained by four time Derby winner D. Wayne Lukas. Lukas has now selected a different rider to replace Jockey Robby Albarado, who rode him in the Derby. Peru native Alan Garcia had a great year last year, winning the Belmont and upsetting Big Brown. This young rider may be just what Flying Private needs to bring home the Blackeyed Susans!
pray for peace in the Preakness, y'all,
Kimmy
