Big Drama On Stage at Preakness

by Kim Thomas

Earlier in the year, BIG DRAMA was minding his own business when he suddenly kicked himself in his stall. (I've done the same thing; in the shower :) Subsequently, he had surgery to help heal the bone bruise, but eventually BIG DRAMA, who is owned by Harold Queen, made his triumphant return to the track in the Grade II Swale Stakes at Oaklawn in late March. He finished ahead of the pack, but there was an inquiry about bumping and the big boy took the place money instead of the win.

David Fawkes trains
BIG DRAMA for Harold Queen, who also is listed as the Breeder of this handsome dark brown colt, who is a half-brother to stakes winner DRAMA'S WAY and is out of the NOTEBOOK mare Riveting Drama. BIG DRAMA's papa is MONTBROOK.

BIG DRAMA
will be ridden by John Velazquez and likely be a moderate longshot on Saturday; at 10-1, he needs to do more than set the pace this time around the Pimlico track, though he has already earned over $800,000 and has a great race record: he has never finished behind any other horse. In other words, this horse does not know how to lose! If he does not bump fastest-horse-on-the-track Grade I Kentucky Oaks supergirl RACHEL ALEXANDRA, and if he can sustain his winning energy to continue past 1 1/16 miles, he's the colt to include on either side of an exacta bet for the Preakness.

pray for Peace in the Preakness, y'all,
Kimmy
