Chocolate Candy, son of Candy Ride, galloped this morning at Churchill Downs with jockey Mike Smith, despite of and in front of all the commotion caused by a tragic collision between two non-Derby horses.
This California-raced colt out of a Seattle Slew mare, Crownette is owned by the Sid and Jenny Craig Trust, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.

Chocolate Candy finished second to Grade I Santa Anita Derby Winner Pioneer of the Nile, and won the El Camino Real Derby, which is a Grade III stakes race.
The ability of Chocolate Candy to put in an impressive workout despite the disturbance this morning is a testament to his talent. Even though he has only heretofore raced in California, he is Kentucky-bred and perhaps has proved that he has no qualms about racing on the dirt.
Pray for peace, y'all,
Kimmy
