I Fell asleep and missed the halftime show AND second half of the SuperBowl!
Don't ask me what my favorite commercial was, either. By the internet posts I've seen, Pete Davidson covered the sandwich spread. I'm not going to bash Pete. He's cute, tall and funny and why NOT him? He can date whomever tickles his fancy, but I'd like it if gets zero more tattoos;)
Back to the Bengals, they performed a dreamy football opera of a season. I arrived back in Cincinnati in June, just as the beloved Reds were winding up a ho-hum season. I wanted the Reds to win, as always, but they didn't really qualify this year to be boys of October.
Then, I began to hear mention of University of Cincinnati and Bengals gridiron news.
U.C. went NEARLY undefeated and the crowd went wild. The Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow was returning after a nasty injury in the prior year. He'd been through knee surgery and rehab. Let me say that physical therapy after surgery is hell...HELL, I say. I survived it 5 years ago after my hand was repaired with metal. Ouchy MacOuchy!
At any rate, thanks to the news folk, I knew well all about JoeyB by September. I knew he'd gone to Ohio State, then transferred to LSU where he earned the Heisman trophy.
As a pro, he suffered a knee injury on national television in his rookie year. As a quarterback worthy of sacks galore, Burrow got a lot of good and bad attention, but that did not stop him.
He can sail the football to his receiver with pinpoint acuity. He can run the ball himself and then take a tackle. Burrow makes sure his team mates get credit where it's due.
So at the SuperBowl, Burrow led his team to almost victory. He threw touchdown passes, ran with the ball, took an injury to his other 'good' knee and best of all, he dressed like the sharp dressed man he's known to be.
Then the Los Angeles Rams pulled ahead at the last moment and broke hearts all over Cincinnati. However, the spirit of the Bengals will remain forever. The Skyline chili dip will still warm us up next year, when the Whodey nation returns!
Brrrrrrrrow!
peace,
Kimmy
