Top O’ The (Insert time of day here), Batfans!
St. Patrick’s day is just around the bend. Now, we all know how St. Patrick chased the snakes out of Ireland. And we all know that March 17 will be a day (and night) of celebration involving green beer, “Kiss Me! I’m Irish!”T-shirts, shamrocks, and jigs. Not to mention corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, and soda bread. That’s all fine and good, we guess. Trouble is, St. Patrick’s Day is on a Thursday this year. You can’t possibly indulge in all that Irish craziness on a school night! What to do, what to do?
Well, kids, have we got news for you. THE BATS will be at Natasha’s Bar & Bistro on Friday, March 18th, to introduce you to a little known Irish alcoholiday (thanks, Oscar Wilde!),
ST. PATSY’S DAY. St. Patsy may not be familiar to you now, but after Friday, March 18, that will no longer be the case. You’ll discover how St. Patsy, armed only with a gigantic washtub and a spatula, rid Ireland of its dreaded newts. And that’s not all! Her sainthood was all but guaranteed when, just days after her newt mission was complete, she invented Irish Coffee, the drink renowned for containing in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat. What a woman! She shoulda been pope! Pope St. Patsy! But no. She remained, to the end of her days, a humble serving wench in a scratchy brown robe, brewing coffee and distilling whiskey in her washtub. Only now have people come to realize her place in the canon of cocktail concocters. For all we know, she invented spray whipped cream, too! Sigh.
Join us as we raise St. Patsy up! Lift a cup of steaming Irish Coffee in her honor on March 18th!
Beer is okay, too, as long as it’s Guinness or Harp. We’ll bring the green food coloring, in case you want to dye your imbibement. And if you don’t want to drink, that’s cool. Just bring a newt for the grill.
The important thing is that you join us at 8:00 on March 18th. Make your reservations ASAP at 859-259-2754.
Long live St. Patsy! Death to newts!
